Close-up of world’s natural wonders

Highly specialised photography produced by students who have completed Nottingham’s unique Masters degree in Biological Photography and Imaging have been on show.

The exhibition at the Wallner Gallery at Lakeside celebrated the pioneering science-based course’s 10th anniversary.  It featured the work of former students who have gone on to careers in biological research, wildlife photography, medical imaging, film making and writing. One of these is Alex Hyde, whose photo of a praying mantis features on our cover.

The exhibition was also held in recognition of the late Associate Professor Brian Case who founded the course 19 years ago as a module for undergraduate biology students. Prof Case established the MSc in Biological Photography and Imaging with the help of teaching support specialist David McMahon. Around 40 donors have so far raised over £2,000 for the Brian Case Memorial Fund to support a Brian Case Photography Prize to recognise outstanding achievement at undergraduate level.

If you wish to support the fund go to the ‘Support Us Now’ page at:  www.alumni.nottingham.ac.uk and specify the fund in the designation box.
