Help graduates bridge the gap

Can you help our future graduates to achieve their career ambitions?

For many new graduates, securing professional level employment can take up to two years after leaving University as employers often look for proven work experience and workplace relevant skills when recruiting.

The School of Biosciences is looking to conduct a research project which looks at “bridging the gap”.

The aim is to identify the skills, experience and knowledge employers are looking for when employing our graduates and to determine how student can best develop these attributes.

Specifically aimed at Animal, Environmental Science and Nutrition students, the University’s newly expanded Careers and Employability Service is looking for alumni whose field of study and subsequent career path is linked to these areas to advise and support current students within a mentoring relationship.

These relationships will give students a real  opportunity to better understand your profession and industry and provide them with a unique insight into your professional experiences, so helping them to succeed in their chosen career.

If you would like to get involved or would like more information, please contact Jenny Patchitt, Postgraduation Statistics Manager.
