Iconic weather vane survives demolition

Exciting new developments are taking place at Sutton Bonington Campus to vastly improve facilities for the Student Guild and Student Services.

The Rushcliffe Restaurant will be replaced and the central area of the campus will be transformed into a more engaging, boulevard-style pedestrian space. In the last couple of years the campus has seen major new buildings such as the BioEnergy and Brewing Science Building and the Gateway Building. Work on the new building is scheduled to be finished by early 2014.

Meanwhile, the iconic weather vane and supporting cupola at SB have been saved and preserved for future display. The landmarks, known by thousands of alumni and students, especially members of the Old Kingstonian Association, were removed with the demolition of the Student Amenities Building, which was the Old Dairy and an SB icon. You can watch a time lapse sequence of the removal at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MP8Zigp3MLw

The Old Kingstonian Association is the old students’ association for SB campus and the halls of residence. OKA produces Agrimag and organises an annual reunion. To keep in touch with OKA and developments at SB contact: julian.wiseman@nottingham.ac.uk.
