Join the Centre for the Study of Political Ideologies and the Department of American and Canadian Studies for this talk on Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and the rise of American populism. Professor Charles Postel from San Francisco State University, a world leading expert on American populism and author of the Bancroft Prize winner The Populist Vision (2007), will discuss the recent evolution of the primary campaigns in light of the historical origins of American populism, which date back to the late nineteenth century.
Charles Postel will be in conversation with Dr Dean Blackburn, Lecturer in British History from the Department of History, University of Nottingham, and Lorenzo Costaguta, PhD in American Studies from the Department of American and Canadian Studies, University of Nottingham.
