This hour-long workshop for University of Nottingham staff and students, led by Dr Val Watson, Head of the University Counselling Service, is part of a rolling programme of gentle exercises designed to encourage mindfulness practice.
In this session, attention and focus will be on the body, what we notice and pay attention to, what we ignore.
Mindfulness is about ‘paying attention on purpose in a kindly, non-judgemental way’. Studies have shown that regularly practising Mindfulness can be helpful if you have a tendency to worry about the future or find it hard to let go of situations once they have passed.
All exercises in this session will be done in an upright position. No special equipment is needed.
Please note this workshop might not be appropriate if you find it uncomfortable or difficult to tune into your body.
Booking is essential as places are limited. Once fully booked a waiting list will be held. Please email peopleandculture@nottingham.ac.uk by 5pm, Friday 17 May 2019.
