Changes to our website and Content Management System

November 21st, 2016

On the weekend starting Friday 25 November, we will be bringing to fruition a major project which has been under way for over a year, leading to our Content Management System (CMS) and the webpages it generates being hosted by our CMS supplier, Zengenti, in dedicated web hosting environments. This is expected to lead to real improvements in speed and reliability of both the CMS and the website.

The website is expected to remain available to end users throughout the process. At some stages of the process, there may be very brief periods during which response times are slower than usual, but these will be kept to a minimum.

CMS users will have received an email detailing the impact on the CMS during the changeover period, which will involve the CMS being unavailable for a period. Non-CMS websites are expected to be unaffected.

Important changes to coursework submission

November 15th, 2016

The process for coursework submission has changed this academic year. Unless otherwise agreed, all hard copy coursework must be submitted at a Student Service Centre by 3pm on the day of the deadline.

There are eight Student Service Centres across our campuses, open Monday to Friday every day except public holidays and University closures. Students will be able to hand their coursework in at any of these locations. In addition, there will be supplementary ‘pop-up’ submission points available during busy periods. These can be found in various school locations and at the George Green Library – the precise dates and locations are available on the coursework page of the Student Services website and this will be updated regularly.

On the day of submission, students should come prepared with their module code, which will be required for the coursework coversheet. Alternatively, a copy of the coursework submission coversheet can be printed from the Student Services website and filled in in advance, in order to avoid delays. Students in the Faculty of Engineering and the School of Physics and Astronomy will need to fill in an alternative coversheet, which can be found on the University website.

Please be reminded that, unless otherwise agreed by the School/Department and communicated in advance, students must submit hard copy coursework by 3pm on the day of the deadline.

The process that students will follow for collecting marked coursework will vary depending on the School/Department to which they belong. When marked coursework is ready to be collected, students will receive a communication from Service Centre staff on where and when it will be available.

To find out more about the coursework submission process, visit the Student Services website. For any questions, fill in the online enquiries form.
