Women’s suffrage up to 1928

Val Wood of the Nottingham Women’s History Group considers the impact of the franchise for the women of Nottingham in terms of women’s political representation and suffrage activism in the city from 1918 to 1928.

Val refers to the first women councillors and discusses the possible reasons why it took so long to return a female member of Parliament.

The talk is part of the programme of events associated with the ‘A Selection of Elections’ exhibition in the Weston Gallery.

This free event takes place 1-2pm, Wednesday 24 October 2018 at the Djanogly Theatre, Nottingham Lakeside Arts.

Please book tickets in advance online or from the Lakeside box office. Find out more at the Lakeside Arts website.
