During this year’s Sustainability Action Week (18-22 March) our Sustainability team and Music Department are joining forces to present a special musical performance of Wild Isles in Concert by BBC Concert Orchestra, accompanied by a Sustainability Showcase. Tickets are half price for UoN staff.

Wild Isles

Nottingham Royal Concert Hall will host Wild Isles in Concert, a spectacular symphonic encounter with the wildlife on the British Isles, as captured in Sir David Attenborough’s landmark series. With a cinema-size screen showing highlights from BBC One’s Wild Isles, expect breathtaking images as award-winning composer George Fenton conducts the full BBC Concert Orchestra in a live performance of the soundtrack music he composed for them. The performance will commence at 7.30pm.

Sustainability Showcase

Would you ever eat an insect? What can a talking deckchair teach us about climate change? How can we flood- and future-proof our cities?

We will be taking over the entire six floors of the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall foyer space before the Wild Isles performance, and these are some of the questions being answered. Running from 6.30pm, the foyers will be filled with interactive displays and installations showing the wide range of work happening at our university to address sustainability and climate change. Experience cutting-edge research on greenhouse gases and landscape protection measures, talking deckchairs and boardgames, and think about what you can do to help protect our planet through even the most local actions, such as what plants you can grow at home.
