Joanne Hort 800x600

Professor Joanne Hort, SABMiller Chair of Sensory Science and Head of International Centre for Brewing Science, gives the inaugural lecture ‘It’s all a matter of taste!’.

This interactive talk will give an overview of what sensory science is and how all our senses work together to evoke the sensory properties we enjoy from food and beverages on a daily basis. It will reveal how research undertaken is helping to explain why individuals have such different preferences and overall responses to food and drink.

For example, what is a supertaster? Are you a thermal taster? How might this affect your choice of food and drink? Do you respond emotionally to the sensory properties of beer, and does that drive your presence at the bar?

This inaugural lecture will be chaired by Professor Neil Crout, Head of the School of Biosciences.

Admission free, all welcome.
