Excel in Science presents Re-Emerging Research: From Plague to Davy’s Notebooks

Hear from experts undertaking innovative and cross-disciplinary research projects!

Collaboration is key to a successful research project, but how does this work when your research crosses disciplines?

This week we will hear about two projects which not only break new ground (literally in one case!) but also work with a range of stakeholders to deliver world-changing research.

From understanding the transmission and prevention of the bacteria responsible for the Black Death to transcribing and understanding the notebooks of the chemist Humphry Davy (1778-1829), these discussions will offer fantastic insights into how we collaborate with others to achieve world-changing research.

Our speakers are:

Dr Steve Atkinson (University of Nottingham) – Soil survival and re-emergence: the continued threat of plague

Dr Eleanor Bird and Dr Andrew Lacey (Lancaster University) – The Humphry Davy Notebooks Project
