[CANCELLED] Political upheaval and the LGBT community: building resilience in a changing world

This event explores the changing political climate and its impact on minority groups, the LGBT community in particular. There will also be a discussion around the need for intersectionality and building resilience. Speakers will include Mel Jeffs, manager of the Nottingham Women’s Centre and Paula Akpan, co-founder of the “I’m Tired” Project and writer for gal-dem. Part of LGBT History Month.

Rainbow refugees: LGBT rights in refugee and asylum law

Join the Centre for Research in Race and Rights and the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice (CSSGJ) for a discussion on LGBT immigration. Paul J Dillane, the Executive Direction of the UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group, will be in conversation with Ibtisam Ahmed as part of the regular CSSGJ seminar series. Please join the Rights and Justice Research Priority Area for a discussion on the situation of the LGBT community in Nottingham. Representatives from the Notts Trans Hub, QTIPOC Notts, Outburst, Out in Education, and the LGBT Networks from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent will all be present to talk about current issues and contemporary events.
