We understand that knowing where you’re going to live at University is really important to prospective students.
That’s why we now guarantee a room in University-arranged accommodation to all new, full-time undergraduates for their first year, even if they come to us later on through Clearing and Adjustment. As long as they have an unconditional status by 31 August in the year they want to start, firmly accept their course offer from us and accept their accommodation offer by the deadline given in their offer letter, they are guaranteed a room.
Make sure you let prospective students know about this guarantee – which is valid for three years for international students (subject to a few simple terms and conditions). Visit the Accommodation website or contact the team for more information.

That’s a very good question.
The scope of Project Transform is absolutely huge and it can be a bit difficult to wrap your head around. In order to convey the size of the project and the things we are working on, we developed the Project Transform Vision.
Read it on our blog and watch the video for an introduction from key members of UEB.

On Wednesday 24 June from 9.30am to 11am, MPs from across the House of Commons and the Minister for Universities and Science, Rt. Hon Jo Johnson MP will come together to take part in a Westminster Hall Debate on science and research in the UK and regional economies. This debate takes place ahead of the Wednesday 8 July Emergency Budget and Comprehensive Spending Review that will be announced later in the autumn.
The Debate is the result of an initiative undertaken by The University of Nottingham and The University of Oxford – in conjunction with other institutions across UK higher education and supported by bodies such as UUK, the Campaign for Science and Engineering and the Royal Society. Nottingham South MP, Lilian Greenwood submitted the first expression of interest for the topic and has helped guide the University in asking MPs from all over the UK to help secure the Debate.

Roadworks have commenced on the third junction of the Ring Road Improvement Scheme – Crown Island, the junction of Middleton Boulevard, Wollaton Road and Western Boulevard.
From now until spring 2016, construction works will take place to create additional circulating lanes to improve through-traffic, reduce traffic queues on all approaches and upgrade crossing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
The junction will be built in phases with carefully planned traffic management measures so that all traffic movements around the junction can be maintained for the duration of the works. However some delays and impact on travel times are expected. Traffic will be managed around the site by lane restrictions, generally timed to be off-peak and at weekends using temporary traffic signals and crossing points.
Works at Crown Island started in September 2014 to build a new retaining wall adjacent to The University of Nottingham Melton Hall site and extend the subway under Crown Island to support the new road layout. The works have affected the Jubilee Campus car park. An estimated 48 spaces have been lost, of which 18 will reopen once the works are complete. The subway is closed while works take place. Pedestrians are advised to use nearby crossings and cyclists should follow the diversion route via the surface crossings on Wollaton Road and Middleton Boulevard.
For full details of these and other works affecting travel to our campuses, visit our dedicated webpage.

Message on behalf of Kerry Law, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer
I wanted to take a moment to share with all of you some exciting news about the re-naming of the Marketing, Communications and Recruitment department along with a forthcoming addition to our team.
Effective immediately, MCR will be re-named External Relations. In view of the recent team expansion, we believe this name change more accurately reflects the breadth of work we do.
I am also thrilled to announce that Nottingham Lakeside Arts will be joining External Relations from 1 August 2015. This will enable us to work more closely with the Lakeside team to further build our reputation and profile. Earlier this year, the department welcomed the Market Intelligence team and Admissions in January and March respectively – read our article for more information.
