The records storage facility at King’s Meadow is full and boxes of records that have reached or passed their destruction date will be destroyed.
The records storage facility guidance explains that by assigning a destruction date and depositing the records into the Records Storage Facility you have provided prior approval for the Storage Team to proceed with destruction on that date.
Where records have reached their review date, reasonable efforts will be made to contact the colleague or area responsible for the records, but if no contact has been possible and the box reaches its destruction date, the material will be destroyed in line with the records storage facility guidance.
If you have any concerns or require further advice, please contact your records officer in the first instance.
If you require further assistance please contact the data protection team on data-protection@nottingham.ac.uk.

A section of the M1 near Nottingham is due to close for a weekend in May 2018, to enable roadworks to be completed.
The southbound carriageway of junction 23A-24 of the M1 will be closed to all traffic from 10pm, Friday 11 May. The northbound carriageway will close two hours later (midnight, Friday 11 May).
Both carriageways are scheduled to reopen at 3pm, Sunday 13 May.
The closure is taking place to enable two separate roadwork projects to be completed:
There will be a traffic diversion route along the A453 for the entire time.
As the M1 is one of the UK’s busiest motorways, drivers should expect significant congestion and delays along this diversion route and the motorway. Drivers are advised to avoid this area if possible and allow for extra time for their journey – in particular if travelling to East Midlands Airport.
For more information, check www.slp-emg.com and www.trafficengland.com.

The University of Nottingham is dedicated to improving the representation, progression and success of minority ethnic staff and students within higher education. As part of this goal, the University aims to achieve an ECU Race Equality Charter Bronze Award by 2020.
In order to successfully make an impact for BME staff and students, we need a committed group of individuals representing a broad range of areas to do this work. As a result, we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to join the institutional race equality self-assessment team through one of the following roles:
The Equality Challenge Unit (ECU)’s Race Equality Charter is underpinned by five guiding principles:
To give adequate time for consideration of these complex challenges, participation in the institutional self-assessment team is likely to require 0.05FTE in addition to attendance at quarterly SAT meetings. In return, colleagues will be part of positive culture change at the University and have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership and citizenship skills.
We are particularly keen to hear from black and ethnic staff and students who would be able to share their experiences at the University.
To nominate yourself, or to discuss the roles further in confidence, please email Justine Wallis-Leggett. The deadline for expressions of interest is Monday 14 May.

Breda Walls, Chief Student Management Officer, will be leaving the University on Friday 13 July to take up a new role as Director of Student Services at Trinity College Dublin.
As Chief Student Management Officer for Nottingham for the past 3 years, Breda has been responsible for all aspects of student services from registration to graduation, including fees & funding, timetabling & examinations, and partnerships, placements & mobility.
Her new role brings her closer to her family and home in Dublin and encompasses leadership responsibilities for the full range of Trinity’s student services including student recruitment, academic registry, sports, healthcare, day nursery, student counselling and disability services.
Breda joined the University of Nottingham in 2015 after an early teaching career and 27 years in the airline industry in a career which has spanned the UK, Ireland, Canada and the USA.
Commenting on her move, Breda said: “I am delighted to have secured a role at the prestigious Trinity College Dublin and to have the opportunity to be closer to friends and family at home.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Shearer West said: “I would like to thank Breda for the immense contribution she has made to the University, in particular to our services for our students, and wish her every success in her new role with Trinity College Dublin”.
It is anticipated that Breda’s deputies, Clare Gough and Chris Hulse, will take on aspects of Breda’s role on her departure until a decision is made on the way forward with the role of Chief Student Management Officer.

A Nottingham University Business School academic has been ranked among the world’s most powerful women in Islamic finance.
Professor Meryem Duygun holds the Aviva Chair in Risk and Insurance at NUBS and also works as an Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Leicester as well as being President of the International Finance and Banking Society.
She has now been voted 35 in the WOMANi 2018 report. The rankings were put together to champion the role of women in Islamic Banking and Finance. They look at areas such as professional leadership, advocacy and industry-wide recognition.
Professor Duygun said: “To be listed in WOMANi report came as a delightful surprise to me. It is a great honour and a genuine recognition of the importance and significance of the contribution that women across the world make in the area of Islamic Banking and Finance.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my career. I hope this award will inspire many other women to make their mark in the world of Islamic Banking and Finance.”
The report said: “Throughout Islamic history, women have played important and influential roles in major areas such as policy making, politics, academia and business; from the first woman entrepreneur, Khadija Bint Khuwailad, to thousands of other Muslim women.
“Active participation of women in business and finance is a contemporary phenomenon, which has its roots in the Western influence on lifestyle and business organisations.
Islamic banking and finance in general have been traditionally dominated by men. But over the last two decades, we have seen more and more women shattering the industry’s glass ceiling. These inspirational female leaders and industry pioneers have inspired and motivated a new generation of female talent.”
