Changes to Microsoft Stream – action required

May 23rd, 2023

Microsoft are discontinuing the application known as “Classic Stream” later in 2023 – the system where all Microsoft Teams recordings were stored prior to July 2022.

Earlier this year Digital and Technical Services (DTS) advised users to review videos held in Classic Stream ahead of a migration of data to OneDrive.

We are pleased to inform you that the migration of staff owned video in Classic Stream was completed at the start of April.

These video files are now located in OneDrive for Business for staff and some associates (where your account sponsor has purchased an Enhanced Associate licence)

If you had video(s) in Classic Stream, please take the action below:

Action required

Following the migration, we are asking that users check  their university OneDrive to ensure that a folder labelled ‘Stream Migrated Videos’ has been added with the correct video(s) stored within.

If the folder is missing or empty, and you are a member of staff of enhanced associate, please contact our IT Service Desk team.

As OneDrive is removed when a person leaves the university, it is vital that you relocate important video to the appropriate location before Friday 1 September 2023.

Instructions on how to review the content, and how and where to relocate it, can be found via this SharePoint page – Classic Stream Migration.

Reminder – for all undergraduates, taught postgraduates, research postgraduates, or standard associates, if any video content is held in Classic Stream, it is vital this is download and transferred before Classic Stream shuts down on Sunday 1 October 2023.
