Professor Jeremy – Jerry – Roberts will be leaving the University after 38 years to take up the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise at the University of Plymouth.

Professor Roberts was awarded his BA in Botany from the University of Oxford and his PhD in Plant Physiology/Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge. He joined The University of Nottingham as a Lecturer in Plant Physiology in 1979 and was promoted to Chair in 2000. Professor Roberts also served as Head of School (2007 -2011) and as Dean of the Graduate School (2011 – 2015).

Professor Simon Langley-Evans, Head of the School of Biosciences, said: “Jerry Roberts has been a fantastic colleague and asset to The University of Nottingham, as a researcher in Plant and Crop Science, as a very popular and effective Head of School of Biosciences and as Dean of the Graduate School.

“He has had a positive influence on the careers of many colleagues in the School and many of the initiatives that he set in place are key elements of our ongoing activity.”
