As part of LGBT+ History month, The University of Nottingham is hosting a creativity showcase with the theme of Body, Mind, Spirit.
All students, staff and alumni of the university are invited to make a creative piece to include in the showcase. Family and friends are also welcomed to join in the creativity!
Our definition of a creative piece is, as you might expect, broad and inclusive. It might be a drawing, painting or sculpture, a poem or story, a photograph, a short film, a recording of a dance or performance, a textile-based piece, or even a cake. Express yourself in whatever medium you think best captures your interpretation of the theme: Mind, Body, Spirit, in relation to your LGBT+ self, community or allyship.
Our LGBT+ History Month artist-in-residence, Alex Mottier (who is also one of our library advisers!) will be running a workshop to help you release and focus your creative spirit.
A link to the recording of the workshop will be made available afterwards, for those unable to attend it live.
Whether you attend the workshop or not, please submit your creative piece (image, recording or text) in electronic format on Instagram with tagging @uniofnottingham and using hashtags #WeAreUoN and #LGBTHistoryMonth so we can share it on UON’s account .
Or alternatively, by emailing it to alex.mottier@nottingham.ac.uk by Friday 19 February 2021.
A selection of works will be included in an online showcase, which will be launched on the Artsteps virtual museum website in early March 2021. Further details to follow.
