The University of Nottingham will be hosting the forthcoming S-Lab conference. The event is part of the launch of our new GSK Carbon-Neutral Sustainable Chemistry Laboratory, looking to set new benchmarks for energy and environmental performance in research facilities.
The conference itself has a whole stream devoted to the building, and other sessions also describe our refurbishment of chemistry and life science teaching laboratories.
There are also many other sessions on laboratory design case studies (many featuring use of BIM); ventilation; equipment and energy/environmental improvement. The latter includes presentations on BREEAM and Labs; BREEAM/LEED comparison based on the GSK Lab’s use of both; Salix-funded opportunities with a King’s College case study; embedding sustainability into estates processes at the University of Edinburgh; and an interactive discussion session on what works and what doesn’t when trying to improve laboratory sustainability.
