The winner of this year’s #BeastsofUoN photo competition has been announced after more than 200 amazing entries were submitted.
The competition, organised by the University’s Sustainability department, aimed to inspire staff, students and visitors from the community to explore the great outdoor spaces around our campuses, and record how enriching and inspiring our environment can be.
More than 40 entries were shortlisted before a panel of judges announced one overall winner — staff member An Cuypers, who captured this stunning image of a grey squirrel near Highfields lake on University Park campus.
Winning entries for five categories were also announced, including a photograph of bee-eater taken at Malaysia and a close-up of a butterfly snapped at the orchard on University Park.
Additionally, two runners up of the most popular categories, #BeastsofUoN and Campus Wildlife, and Abstract and Details, were awarded at the judge’s discretion, indicating the outstanding quality of entries.
You can find all of the winning images on the University sustainability webpage.
