The university has appointed a new Director of Student and Campus Life. Emma Rowsell took up the role early this month.
Emma joins Nottingham from Southampton University where she has spent the last five years working in a range of student-facing roles. This includes three years as Associate Director within Student Services, where she led the Wellbeing, Disability team as well as overseeing a number of on-campus services including Sport and Childcare.
She takes on responsibility for the Student and Campus Life Division, which provides services and activity to ensure that students have the support to build productive communities and have an excellent experience whilst studying at Nottingham. This includes student equality, diversity and inclusion; student discipline and conduct; arrivals, Welcome and induction; incident management; safeguarding and Students’ Union liaison.
Prior to working in HE Emma graduated with a degree in English and spent her early career in financial services initially working as a project manager and then in senior operational roles.
Stephen McAuliffe, Deputy Registrar, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Emma to the university. The team she joins us to lead is home to a wealth of expertise and experience, and committed to supporting and improving the student experience. I know that she will be a key part in helping us to achieve our ambitions in this area.
Emma said: “It’s great to join the university as the new Director of Student and Campus Life. I lived in the city when I was a student and I am really excited to return. I am passionate about delivering an excellent student experience and am looking forward to meeting and working with you all to drive this work forward.”
