Nurturing tomorrow’s engineers

Caterpillar, a leading manufacturer of heavy equipment and power systems products, is helping to fund six engineering scholarships at the University.

The donation is part of Caterpillar’s ongoing commitment to sustainable education and the Caterpillar Foundation’s investment in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects will help increase the UK pipeline of talent in these critical fields. Professor Andrew Long, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, said: “STEM subjects have been identified by the government as being absolutely critical to the UK’s future prosperity and global competitiveness, and we are delighted that Caterpillar have chosen to work with us in the promotion of engineering in schools and colleges via our outreach programme, and through provision of a scholarship scheme.”

The money will be used predominantly to provide student support for six engineering scholarships, which will remain in place for the duration of student studies. It will also go towards engineering taster days, which will be targeted at children from disadvantaged areas, and has already contributed towards an engineering, maths and computer science summer school.

Expanding scholarships and bursaries is a key project within Impact: The Nottingham Campaign. Find out more about scholarships and how you can support us:
