Queer Affect in the Diaspora

Part of the film series for LGBT Month and Chinese New Year 2019, Queer Chinese Representations on Transnational Screens.

Ricky works as a delivery boy whilst living with his prostitute aunt and is pickpocketed by a thief, Pascal, who himself is in an abusive relationship. The two begin a romantic relationship, and the film follows their journey, exploring the nature of love or co-dependence. The film was a Nominee for the Berlin International Film Festival’s Teddy Award. Kit Hung is an independent, award-winning film maker from Hong Kong.

The screening is 110 minutes long and will be followed by an In Conversation event with each director, chaired by Dr Hongwei Bao with Dr Jamie J Zhao.
