2018 Wellbeing Conference: Working Well in Higher Education

This one-day conference brings together leading researchers from the University of Birmingham and University of Nottingham, in health education and wellbeing to explore how HR practitioners, managers and those responsible for staff wellbeing activity can use research findings to develop priorities for the HE workplace.

The conference will examine:

  • Examples of relevant research and practitioner evidence to support engagement in wellbeing in Higher Education Institutions
  • Shared learning around wellbeing initiatives, their implementation and success
  • How our research-intensive institutions provide future collaborative approaches which address strategic priorities

Conference programme:

  • 9.15 am: Arrival, tea and coffee
  • 10.00 am: Welcome
  • 10.30 am: UoB keynote
  • 11.15 am: Coffee break
  • 11.30 am: Workshops (choose one option out of a selection of three or four)
  • 12.30 pm: Lunch
  • 1.15 pm: Survivor Arts workshop (a creative wellbeing session)
  • 1.45 pm: UoN keynote
  • 2.30 pm: Workshops (choose one option out of a selection of three or four)
  • 3.30 pm: Close and goodbyes
  • 3.45/4.00 pm: Finish

Keynote speakers
‘Working towards a healthy old age’: Professor Janet Lord, Director of the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing, Director of the MRC-ARUK Centre for Musculoskeletal Ageing Research and Professor of Immune Cell Biology, University of Birmingham.

‘Promoting a healthy psychosocial work environment and wellbeing in higher education’: Professor Stavroula Leka CPsychol AFBPsS FRSPH, Professor of Work, Health & Policy, Director, Centre for Organizational Health & Development, University of Nottingham.

A bus will depart from the University of Nottingham at 8:00am on the day of the conference to transport attendees to the event. Please contact Johanna Bramham to request a place on the coach.
