Work, Learn, Qualify — staff apprenticeship programme

November 13th, 2017

The recent apprenticeship reforms mean that anyone, regardless of their age or past qualifications, can become an apprentice. Professional Development has now launched an initiative called the ‘Work, Learn, Qualify programme’ to provide development opportunities for staff across the University.

The Work, Learn, Quality programme provides a means for staff members to participate in a government-approved apprenticeship Standard that is beneficial to their current or future role. You can find a list of approved standards here.

By completing an apprenticeship standard, you could gain valuable opportunities and qualifications while helping strengthen the University as a world-class teaching and research organisation.

Here are some of the key reasons to consider undertaking the Work, Learn, Qualify programme:

  • Gain new knowledge and skills
  • Gain additional qualifications and transferable skills to bolster your CV. Although not directly linked to promotion, it is an opportunity for you to get qualified in your industry area
  • Various Higher and Degree level apprenticeships are available
  • No changes to your salary or terms and conditions
  • No financial cost to you or your Department/School

Our online brochure contains more information about the Work, Learn, Qualify programme and individual eligibility.

We’ll also holding the following series of lunchtime roadshows to promote the opportunities available to staff through the programme:

  • Monday 4 December 2017, 12:30-13:30: Jubilee Campus – Room B18, Xu Yafen Building
  • Tuesday 5 December 2017, 12:30-13:30: Sutton Bonington – Room B13, Main Building
  • Thursday 7 December 2017, 12:30-13:30: University Park – Room B23, Physics

  • Tuesday 12 December 2017, 12:30-13:30: Medical School – Room D96a
