Welcome and Arrivals 2024: host a stall

June 12th, 2024

The Welcome and Arrivals team has already started to work hard in creating a wonderful experience for our students who will first join the University of Nottingham in September.

This year, Welcome and Arrivals will start on the weekend of 20 September. We will be trialling a new approach and will be proposing events spread across a few weeks to fully support students in their transition to their university life.

The team includes a Steering Group and several Task and Finish Groups (Student Communication – Registration, University Cards and Student Enquiries – Student Living – Student Wellbeing – Student Activities – International Students) who work collaboratively to cover all the aspects of Welcome and Arrivals.

These groups meet regularly to ensure a smooth student experience.

The SU is also playing a key role in the organisation of Welcome and Arrivals and is working closely with the University of Nottingham in co-chairing the Steering Group and actively attending some of the Task and Finish Groups.

Updates and news about Welcome and Arrivals 2024 are posted regularly on the Welcome and Arrivals Team.

If you are interested in hearing more, please join the Welcome and Arrivals Teams channel. You are also very welcome to post questions and comments.

Host a stall at a Welcome Village

During the Welcome Period, we aim to highlight a wide range of services, schemes and opportunities on offer to students at the university.

For Welcome 2024, several events will be hosted in the Welcome Villages.

All Professional Services and faculty colleagues are invited to host a stall, advertise their opportunities and chat to students.

Some examples from previous years include ambassador scheme working opportunities, the Academic Language and Communication Skills team and Careers and Employability.

For 2024, events are currently scheduled as follows:

  • Monday 23 September, 9am-12noon, the marquee on Portland Coffee Co terrace on East Drive (opportunities and services specific to international students)
  • Tuesday 24 September, 9am-12noon, the marquee on Portland Coffee Co terrace on East Drive (opportunities and services specific to international students)
  • Wednesday 25 September, 9am-12noon, the marquee on Portland Coffee Co terrace on East Drive (all opportunities and services)
  • Wednesday 25 September, 12noon-4pm, The Exchange Atrium, Jubilee Campus (opportunities and services specific to international students)

If you are interested in hosting a stall at an upcoming Welcome Village for students, please contact Ruth Chamberlain.

Stall numbers are limited, so please get in touch as early as you can.
