Virtual town halls for researchers: invitation from Professor Dame Jessica Corner

May 27th, 2020

Dame Jessica, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, is inviting colleagues to join her at one of a series of virtual town halls.

These online forums are an opportunity for researchers, and all colleagues who support the delivery of our world-changing research, to come together to share ideas, ambitions and concerns, and to offer mutual support.

With a panel of colleagues, Dame Jessica will invite you to share experiences and thoughts on how we can prepare together for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, from returning to on-campus working, to considering what the ‘new normal’ for research may look like in a post-COVID-19 world.

PLEASE NOTE: Remaining sessions may soon be fully booked.  Further town halls are being scheduled – please look out for news of these.

Once the current series of town halls has been completed, we will share informed responses to the issues raised so far; these will also be addressed in our continually updated guidance for researchers and supervisors.

The town halls will take place via Microsoft Teams on:

  • Thursday 21 May: 10-11.30am
This session, aimed at postgraduate researchers and their supervisors, is now FULLY BOOKED. See additional session for our PGR community below
  • Friday 29 May: 2-3.30pm
This session, aimed at the wider research community, is now FULLY BOOKED. See an additional session for the wider research community below.

In addition, there will be a town hall session for fellows to be held on Thursday 4 June between 10-11.30am. There is no need to sign up for this, as fellows will receive an invite direct.

Dame Jessica and colleagues do hope you can join them as we work together to navigate these challenging times.
