February 2nd, 2024
From week commencing Monday 5 February 2024 there will be temporary restricted access to George Green Library, Life Sciences and the small car park outside of these buildings.
This is due to the continuing flood mitigation work, following on from the work completed on the visitor car park last year.
On 5 February the works site and compound will be set up and from 6-9 February work will focus on the road from Cut Through Lane down towards the library, therefore reducing access through this route.
From Monday 12 February work will commence in front of George Green Library until around the end of May.
Whilst we will do everything we can to minimise the disruption, during these works access into the building will be restricted at various times and pedestrian diversions will be in place.
Only deliveries and bin collections will be permitted throughout the duration of the works and will be managed by the contractor on site. No other vehicle access will be allowed.
The car park between George Green Library and the Life Sciences Building will be closed for the duration of the works and will be permanently removed from use on its completion.
This work is part of the ongoing work to prevent future flooding of the George Green Library and the surrounding areas and removal of the car parking spaces is part of our campus travel management plan which seeks to encourage more sustainable travel and increased use of public transport.
