Reporting safeguarding concerns at the university: update June 2022

June 13th, 2022

It is now easier to report safeguarding concerns through the University of Nottingham Report & Support tool.

Report and Support has been used across the university for both staff and students to share any concerns they have about incidents they have experienced, witnessed or been told about.

We have now extended this for it to hold information on safeguarding concerns, which will enable full oversight and reporting to the Safeguarding Steering Group, as well as ensuring we are able to put appropriate support packages in place.

University staff (including contractors, associates, volunteers, etc) should report all safeguarding concerns using the ‘Speak to an Advisor’ functionality and students can also be encouraged to report in this way, or anonymously.

The University of Nottingham Safeguarding Policy has been updated with this information, as has the UoN Safeguarding Resources SharePoint site.

The section entitled ‘What to do if you have a concern’ has updated flowcharts detailing the process and the ‘Safeguarding Leads Contact Details’ now contains information for all central, Faculty & Professional Service Department Leads. Please reach out if you need any advice or support from any of them.

We have had a great response to the training we are currently providing on safeguarding – if you haven’t booked your place, please check the information provided previously on Campus News and chose the right course for you.

There are still some spaces left for the 2-hour briefings in July 2022.
