Professor Duncan Angwin appointed Dean of Business School

Professor Duncan Angwin has been appointed the new Dean of Nottingham University Business School.

He joins the School of Business from Lancaster University where he is currently the Sir Roland Smith Professor in Strategic Management and Head of Department for Entrepreneurship and Strategy.

Professor Angwin is recognised internationally for his expertise in strategic management and mergers and acquisitions. He has taught in over 20 countries and is the author of 12 books, including the bestselling strategy textbook ‘Exploring Strategy’. After studying at Cambridge University, he worked as a senior investment banker in London and Paris. During this time, he worked on the world’s largest mergers and acquisition, worth £13 billion. Under his leadership at Lancaster University, his department was rated by the Financial Times as first in the world for its teaching excellence in strategy.

It has a well-earned international reputation for its innovative research and for leading the way in teaching students to develop a broader ethical and social perspective on business practice which is central to creating a sustainable future. I look forward to further developing the School’s reputation for research and engagement, locally and internationally.”

Nottingham University Business School ranks sixth in the UK for research power and is an international leader in finance and management education and a pioneer in entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability. It is the only British business school to offer courses in entrepreneurship to undergraduate students in the UK and the University campuses in China and Malaysia.

Professor Angwin will formally take up his role in November.
