People and Culture Survey 2023 – next steps

May 30th, 2023

The People and Culture Survey closed on Friday 19 May 2023, thank you to everyone who took part.

Your responses and valuable honest feedback about working culture at the university will help to inform future ways of working and help us better understand the needs of our teams.

More than 5,540 people at the university took part (63%) from our UK campuses, with our overseas counterparts in China and Malaysia reaching 76% and 83% completion rates respectively.

Director of HR, Jaspal Kaur, said: “Many thanks to everyone who took time out of busy schedules to complete the survey.

“Your participation will help to spark discussions which will contribute to improving staff engagement, helping to make the university an even greater place to work.

“It’s positive to see so many people willing to be part of the conversation and have a say in shaping their working environments.”

The university has also been working alongside the Eden Reforestation Project, planting 5,548 trees – one for each completed UK survey – sequestering 1,710 tonnes of carbon dioxide over the span of 25 years.

Initial results from the survey will be reported to the University Executive Board and are expected to be shared with schools and departments in June, who will then create detailed action plans informed by local data.

All teams will be given the opportunity to take part in the development of these plans – your department heads will share more detail in the summer.

Post survey workshops

To help managers understand how to use the dashboard and develop action plans using the tools provided, the university will be running two post-survey workshops.
