Online course for first year students: Your University Journey

September 26th, 2016

We hope you’re starting to feel settled in to your new surroundings and life in Nottingham. Hopefully you’ve met your flatmates, course mates and perhaps signed up to a society or two.

Of course, university life is about much more than that first week of fairs, welcome talks and events. New students are encouraged to sign up to ‘Your University Journey’, an online course aimed at first year students to help with that transition to university study and life.

The course provides an insight into working in groups, helps you keep a good work life balance, and deals with things like library resources and reading lists. It also covers revision techniques, advice on settling in to your studies and much more.

You will also have the option to complete activities to gain credits towards the Nottingham Advantage Award.

Your University Journey runs via Moodle, the University’s online learning platform, and requires independent study. There are five two-week units spread across the academic year that you can study at your own pace. Students can sign up at any time and work through at their own pace. If you want to receive Nottingham Advantage Award credits you need to complete the course by 1 May 2017.

Log in to Moodle and sign up for the course. There is no deadline to sign up for the course.

The essentials:

Course name: Your University Journey Year 1
Duration: 14 September onwards for the academic year
Time commitment: around four hours per unit
