Nottingham nominated for prestigious CUBO Excellence award for sport

June 14th, 2017

University of Nottingham Sport have been shortlisted for a prestigious higher education industry award for their sporting offer.

With the winner announced at the annual College and University Business Officers (CUBO) awards later this month, Nottingham are up against Oxford Brookes University and the University of Sussex for the Excellence in Student Sport award.

This has been a landmark year for Nottingham marked by the opening of the new multi-million David Ross Sports Village in October. The world-class facility has inspired more and more students to get active; over 19,000 young people on campus exercise at least once a week. Our campus sports leagues continue to go from strength to strength, with several of this year’s winners currently out in China representing Team UK at the Tri Campus Games.

The university has also been shortlisted for its pioneering work within disability sport. Nottingham was the first HE institution to employ a dedicated Disability Sport Officer and created the popular Welfare in Sport programme to raise awareness of mental health in sport.
