City council funding of Medilink services: take part in consultation

January 9th, 2024

Nottingham City Council are currently undertaking a public consultation on a range of initial proposals to make the savings needed to close their budget gap.  Some of the proposals being considered are related to reducing funding for public transport services.

Alongside the main public consultation, the Council are undertaking a specific consultation on possible changes to public transport services – withdrawing council funding for Medilink is one of several proposals being considered.

Decisions on the Council’s Medilink funding will be taken in late February/early March. Any changes that are made to the Medilink service (if there are any) will be some months away, and will need to be discussed with all interested parties (including NUH and UoN) before they are implemented.

The university is already in conversation with both the City Council and NUH to stress the importance of the Medilink to UoN staff and students, but staff and students can reaffirm this by taking part in the consultation.
