Nottingham 10k returns to University Park for 2020

February 14th, 2020

Following the huge success of last year’s Run For All Asda Foundation Nottingham 10k – which was held here on University Park – we’re calling on people to sign up and run this year’s event to make it bigger and better!

Over 1,500 people took part in last year’s event, and this year’s is looking set to follow in its footsteps. Taking place on Sunday 31 May, it will be almost exclusively on campus, taking in Highfields Park boating lake.

The Nottingham 10k has a special connection with the University as Run For All is the legacy of the late charity fundraiser Jane Tomlinson CBE, who completed a number of endurance events in the mid-2000s to help raise money for cancer charities after being diagnosed with an incurable cancer herself.

Jane’s family are passionate advocates of the research taking place at Nottingham Breast Cancer Research and last year runners of the Nottingham 10k raised £14,000 for the centre thanks to a partnership with Run For All. The partnership sees £5 of every single entry donated to the Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Centre and runners can also choose the centre as their own fundraising cause.

Dawn Broomfield, Community Fundraising Manager at the University said: “Since the Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Centre was established, we have been overwhelmed by the support received from University staff, students, patients and members of the community.”

Dawn continued: “Research happening here at the University is aimed at detecting breast cancer early, stopping it spreading and treating it right. Last year’s Nottingham 10k was a great success and we would be so grateful if people continue to support us by signing up for this year’s race and choosing to raise funds for the centre.”

Visit the Run For All website to sign up for the 10k and fundraise for the Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Centre.

*Entry for UoN staff will be reduced to £23 until the end of February. A number of charity places are also available for runners who can raise over £100 for NBCRC.

For a charity place or a UoN staff discount code, contact eleanor.alatorre@nottingham.ac.uk from your University email address. Charity places will receive a discount code and a free running vest.
