Major road resurfacing works: Monday 22 – Friday 26 April

April 18th, 2024

A number of diversion routes will be in place from Monday 22 – Friday 26 April as major roadworks will be undertaken to parts of Cut Through Lane and Jubilee Avenue on University Park campus.

Day works will start on Cut Through Lane from 7am on Thursday 25 April and will last until 7pm. During this time, traffic will be one-way only and we ask travellers to follow the directions for the bus diversion route.

Works area one

Day roadworks will take place on Cut Through Lane from 7am until 7pm on Monday 22 April. During this time, vehicle movements including cycles will be one-way, westbound only. Eastbound traffic will need to follow the diversion routes which will be signed.

Access to Estates Road and the Visitor car park will remain in place, with some minor disruption expected as the works are being carried out. The diversion route for eastbound traffic will be signed from Keighton Hill – which will be via Cut Through Lane, Library Road, and Lenton Hall Lane to down Cripps Hill back to the other end of Cut Through Lane.

The stepped pedestrian route from the Visitor car park down to Cut Through Lane and George Green library will be closed during the works so pedestrians will need to use the footway which runs alongside the car park access road.

NCT and Hopper bus services will not be affected by the works on Cut Through Lane.

Works Area two

Evening roadworks will be taking place on Jubilee Avenue (near Florence Boot Hall) from 6pm to 6am on Tuesday 23 April and are expected to end on the evening of Thursday 25 April 2024.

Access from the West Entrance along Cut Through Lane towards the Trent building will be closed from 6pm between Tuesday 23 April to and including Thursday 25 April. The exit from Trent building, down Jubilee Avenue will also be closed from these periods. Normal routes will be open again at 6am each morning.

After 6pm, vehicles exiting from the parking around the Trent building and Jubilee Avenue, who would normally use Jubilee Avenue will be diverted against the normal flow of traffic and vehicles will have to exit via Cut Through Lane, towards Florence Boot Hall. This exit route will remain open until 8pm, after which the route will be closed. From 8pm, the lower section of Cut Through Lane and the bottom of Jubilee Avenue (to Florence Boot Hall) will also be closed to traffic. Normal routes will be open again at 6am each morning.

Any pedestrian diversion routes will signed and operatives will be able to assist.

Due to the resurfacing works, Hopper bus services and NCT34C services will have to operate on alternative routes after 6pm between Tuesday 23 – Thursday 25 April 2024. The following services will be impacted:

Hopper services

  • There will be no impacts on the 902 (UP – KMC service) and 903 (UP – Jubilee service).
  • The 906 service is not currently in operation as it’s a term time only service.
  • Post 6pm the 901 (SB – UP service) will enter campus via the west entrance and serve the bus stops on Beeston Lane and then it will revert to its usual route via George Green Library, Portland Hill, East Drive and the Arts Centre exiting campus via the south entrance. Note that the Library Road stop next to Djanogly Terrace will not be served during these evening works.
  • Post 6pm the 904 (UP – RDH service) will exit campus via the north entrance which means the Library Road stop by Djanogly Terrace and the West Entrance stop cannot be served on route from UP to RDH.
  • Timetables should not be impacted by the works

NCT 34C

  • From 6pm outbound 34C services will route via Derby Road and Woodside Road and enter the campus via the West Entrance to serve the bus stops on Beeston Lane and then it will revert to its usual citybound route via George Green Library, Portland Hill, East Drive and the Arts Centre.
