Internal Coach Pool now recruiting

July 26th, 2016

The University is launching a new Internal Coach Pool, which is now open for nominations from all Departments, Faculties and Schools. All staff at any level can apply.

What does the Internal Coach Pool involve?

The first members of the Internal Coach Pool will form a group of around 30 staff who will be trained in an ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring to provide them with the support they need to coach others in the University in confidential coaching relationships.

The Internal Coach Pool will launch in October 2016 and is open to staff from across the entire University.

Why coaching?

Coaching creates opportunities for the development of professional, supportive relationships and can enable individuals to effectively carry out core business and to continue to contribute to strategic aims. By taking part in the Internal Coach Pool, you will benefit from personal development and a better understanding of impact on others.

The Internal Coach Pool will be supported by the University’s Leadership and Management Team and the Coaching and Mentoring Community of Practice.

How can I apply?

All members of staff in the University are eligible to apply to become a coach in the Internal Coach Pool, regardless of their job family or level. We encourage applications from the wide University population, and recognise a range of skills and talent in our workforce. Applicants must feel comfortable with the prospect of coaching people who may be working in a different area to themselves.

Senior Management Teams (SMTs) will be responsible for nominating people from within their team and requesting that they complete the Nomination Form. To nominate yourself, please discuss this with your line manager first to make them aware of your interest. They will then decide whether to raise this with your SMT on your behalf, or ask you to speak to them to discuss your nomination. The deadline for nominations is Thursday 1 September 2016, please complete the Nomination Form (pdf) to apply.

Successful nominees will commence training towards the ILM qualification in October 2016.
