EMCC Ltd – business to relaunch in 2022

December 6th, 2021

The East Midlands Conference Centre (EMCC) Ltd is set to be relaunched in 2022, developing a new hospitality brand for the multi-venue business. The EMCC will transition to a standalone business.

This move builds on a ten-year partnership with the hotels and leisure business De Vere, who have provided expertise and support to EMCC since the development and opening of the 202-bedroom, on-campus Orchard Hotel. De Vere will continue to work with EMCC over the next six months, to ensure a smooth transition to a standalone position in the market’. EMCC Ltd’s venues include the Orchard Hotel, East Midlands Conference Centre, Jubilee Conference Centre and the newly-launched Hugh Stewart House.

In 2020 EMCC underwent a £2.2m refurbishment, cementing the venue’s reputation as one of the most versatile in the region and enabling a strong return for the hotel and conference as business starts to regain momentum.. All surplus generated by EMCC is ploughed back into the university, representing up to 30% of the university’s commercial income pre-pandemic.

A spokesperson for Orchard Hotel and East Midlands Conference Centre said:

“Following our recent multi-million pound refurbishment and the relaunch of the EMCC, now is an appropriate time for us to look to the future and establish ourselves as a standalone hotel and conference venue. We look forward to moving into this new strategic direction with our excellent team.

A spokesperson for De Vere said:

“Innovation is at the heart of our hospitality business and we’re delighted to have been on this exciting journey with the Orchard Hotel and East Midlands Conference Centre. As their extensive refurbishment works come to an end, now seems like a natural point to enable the next phase of their development, as they look to take a standalone position in the market, with our full support.”
