Develop your leadership skills: apply today

September 12th, 2017

The Aspiring Leaders and Stepping into Leadership programmes from the Leadership and Management Academy are open for applications.

If you’re leading people or projects for the first time, or don’t yet lead anyone but want to in the future, the Leadership and Management Academy has programmes specifically aimed at developing your leadership skills.

Aspiring Leaders

This programme is for any member of staff who’s thinking about taking on their first leadership role.

If you’re looking for that first role as a leader, or if you’ve been identified as potential leadership talent, this programme will give you the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and deepen your understanding of what leadership means for the University.

Staff from all job families are invited to apply, and the deadline for applications is Monday 30 October. Find out more/apply.

Stepping into Leadership

If you’re in your first leadership role, this programme is for you.

Whether you’re leading a team, a project or a piece of work, we’ll help you develop your foundational leadership skills and improve the way you lead. Equally, if you’ve been a leader for a while, but haven’t had an opportunity for formal leadership development, this is a great place to start.

Staff from all job families are invited to apply, and the deadline for applications is Monday 30 October. Find out more/apply.

Further programmes and development tools

Two of our other development programmes are still open for applications as well:

Our Coaching Programme, which gives you the opportunity to study for an ILM level 5 qualification in coaching, is open for applications until Friday 29 September.

The Strategic Leaders Programme, which is aimed at leaders with University wide responsibility looking to develop their strategic leadership skills, is open for applications until Monday 30 October.

You can also find out more about these programmes by visiting the LMA Hub on Moodle, or by contacting a member of the Leadership and Management Team.

There’s a raft of on-line learning resources available for all staff to access on the Learning and Resources page of the LMA Hub. From change management and emotional intelligence to personal impact and managing stress, there’s a range of topics to choose from. You can also discover more about what’s available from the Leadership and Management Academy by downloading the prospectus. If you’d prefer a hard copy, please email a member of the LMA team.

Dear Richard Sanderson, Carol Steed and Christine Wilkinson,

I would like to apply for the “Aspiring Leaders” course but I only get a “You do not have access to this module.” message from moodle.
Is there a way for me, as an associate, to get access as well?

Thank you
Sina

Hi Sina

Thanks for getting in touch and letting us know about this message. Your email has been passed on to the learning technology team and somebody should be in touch with you shortly to help you with this issue. Many thanks, Becky.

The courses are available to all staff members but are not currently open to associates, which is the reason why you can not gain access. You are however welcome to contact a member of the LMA team about this. Thank you.
