Complete the Students’ Union survey for staff

October 10th, 2016

When you think of the Students’ Union – what springs to mind?

The University of Nottingham Students’ Union would like the chance to get to know University staff members a little better by asking staff to complete a survey. The SU would like to know how you perceive their work and where their role could be made a little clearer.

By completing the five minute survey, staff members will be in for the chance of winning £100 in Amazon vouchers. There are six prizes available if you respond before Wednesday 9 November.

The survey can be found here.

My individual dealing with members of the student union is usually positive, they are generally friendly approachable and open to discussion.

When working with some students and societies that we link with in the Business School, feedback from them is not always so positive. They tend to feel it is very bureaucratic, things take too long to get dealt with and they are not always helpful. This may or may not be due to issues on both sides and I don’t usually get told the positive feedback of which I am sure there is a lot.

They support students and employees in improving the experience of studying and working at UoN. They represent student views by negotiating with management. They work with Trade Unions on campaigns such as The Living Wage campaign.
It would help to know how Trade Unions and Student Union could work closer together. It would be interesting to know how officers are elected and what training they are given for their role.
