Changes to global activity services and support

October 15th, 2019

The University is committed to embedding strategy, services and guidance supporting global activity – from teaching partnership to supporting international staff and students.

The move towards a more sophisticated, integrated approach to global engagement is key to sustaining the University’s position as a leading international university.

As part of this work, functions and services that were previously based in the Office of Global Engagement will be moved into our front-line professional services teams. This will ensure that staff and students retain easy access to high-quality advice and support, while better aligning with the University’s global strategy.

  • The Teaching Partnerships team has joined the International Student Recruitment team
  • The Director, Inter Campus Collaboration will join the new Governance and Assurance directorate
  • The Student Mobility team will join the wider mobility team in Student Services (development)

These changes will take place over the coming weeks although business as usual will continue for the operations managed by these teams.

A new global engagement strategy support unit will be created in the new year as part of External Relations, reporting to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer in the first instance. This new team will support the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement and the Global Engagement Committee to develop a strategic approach over the coming months in response to the new University Strategy.
