Changes to catering on campus

September 8th, 2020

Details of reopened food and drink outlets have been published as part of the University’s phased return to campus.

The majority of the catering facilities on campus have been closed due to lockdown restrictions, with limited numbers of people on campus and in alignment with the University’s building reopening schedule.

Since March a number of outlets have changed and may reopen in a different format.

You can find a list of food and drink outlets around our UK campuses and full opening dates and times. These pages will be updated as more facilities reopen.

Delivered catering and internal events – new process
A change of process for event catering has been put in place to maintain health and safety protocols for events being operated for our students and staff.

To ensure consistency of health and safety guidelines, a new process will see Nottingham Conferences oversee bookings for catering and event management.

As we prepare for the start of term we need to ensure safety measures around events, whether large scale or small meetings, are in line with the University and Government COVID-19 guidance.

The new process means that any catering related requests from Schools and Departments should be made by emailing Nottingham Conferences or ringing 0115 7486100. While this process is in place the self-booking portal for delivered catering has been suspended and bookings into Syllabus+ have been limited to teaching related activity only. Please ensure you submit requests in plenty of time to ensure elements such as risk assessments, which are now mandatory, are in place. The team at Nottingham Conferences will help and guide you in the safe planning of your event.

In using Nottingham Conferences there are no additional costs to users, the approach supports the principles of Getting-in-Shape and the Keep it on Campus initiative which are intended to reduce spend with external providers which can be met with the University’s in-house capabilities.

Third party caterers will not be allowed access to campus unless requested and managed through Nottingham Conferences.

The only exception lies with events led by student associations which will be managed by the Student Union following consistent safety protocols and compliance.

Please contact Nottingham Conferences for assistance.
