The pinnacle of the university team sports programme, British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Big Wednesday, is returning to Nottingham on Wednesday 23 March 2022 and tickets are now available to purchase.
The Championship finals see the top student Premier League teams in the United Kingdom battle it out to be overall National champion. In the Trophy competition, squads from the second tier of the BUCS leagues compete for the coveted Trophy Cup. With many University of Nottingham teams still in the running to be in the finals on home ground, be sure to come down and show your support for our #GreenandGold.

After the success of our Girls’ Night In event last term, the night returned at David Ross Sports Village on Sunday 6 March 2022 from 7-10pm. A free event, Girls’ Night In is open to all female students and those who identify as female at the university. Offering the chance to try new sports in a friendly atmosphere with the opportunity of competitions and prizes, the night always provides a fantastic evening, and the 6 March was no different.
After an enforced year without the annual BUCS Nationals weekend, the event returned in full force in 2022. Held over three days in the steel city of Sheffield, hundreds of athletes from the University of Nottingham competed across the five different sports of Badminton, Athletics, Swimming, Fencing and Climbing, in a bid to be crowned the best in university sport.

The University of Nottingham’s flagship sporting venue, the David Ross Sports Village, is set to undergo an extensive update from May 2022 with exciting refurbishment works confirmed for the university’s aquatic facilities.
The £1.4 million investment into the pool facilities at the University Park facility will see extensive updates to improve the swimming experience including a pool renovation, a complete remodel of the changing area, new spectator seating and a state-of-the-art upgrade to our accessible facilities.
