An appeal from Nottinghamshire Police – did you see would-be robbers in Wollaton?

November 17th, 2014

Officers are trying to trace a man, wearing a Nottingham University sweatshirt, who may have witnessed an attempted robbery in Wollaton.

Two men tried to steal cash from security guards who had arrived at the Bramcote Lane Sainsbury’s to fill up the ATM.

At just before 8am on Saturday 15 November 2014 they threatened the guards with a suspected pistol but were foiled when the guards managed to move themselves and the cash to safety. The offenders had no choice but to flee empty-handed in a grey/silver car.

No one was injured.

Detectives are particularly keen to speak to a man who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident. He was white and wearing a blue Nottingham University sweatshirt.

Was this you? If so, call us.

The suspects were black, slim and in their early to mid-20s. One was about 5ft 8 ins tall and the other a little taller at about 5ft 10ins. Both were dressed in dark clothing, with hoods up and their faces covered.

Were you in the area at the time? Did you see the incident? Do the men and the car sound familiar to you?
