One of the greatest masterpieces of British art has been saved for the country and is under the watchful eye of a University of Nottingham alumna.
Bought earlier this year by Tate Britain for £23.1m, John Constable’s Salisbury Cathedral will remain in the UK and falls under the remit of Amy Concannon (History and Art History 2006) in her role as Assistant Curator 1790-1850 at Tate Britain. After graduating Amy worked at the Wordsworth Trust as an intern before studying for an MA at The Courtauld and subsequently joining the Dulwich Picture Gallery and then Tate Britain in 2012. She said: “My role encompasses Constable, Turner and many other leading names of the British 19th-century art world. I never thought I’d be working here – it really is the dream job!”
