Diamond geezers!

Ambassador for the Woodland Trust, Nottingham alumnus and honorary graduate Dr Ron Haylock (Chemical Engineering 1968, Hon LLD 2005) joined the Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Greenaway, in helping to plant the University’s Diamond Wood at Sutton Bonington.

They were joined by Professor Julian Wiseman (Animal Production 1979), Treasurer of the Old Kingstonian Association and Head of Division and Professor of Animal Production in the Faculty of Science, and Robert Taylor, President of the Student Guild at Sutton Bonington.

Around 150 people braved bitterly cold temperatures, buoyed by the warmth of a fantastic community event and enjoyed a morning planting as the University teamed up with the Woodland Trust to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in a way that will last for generations.

The initial planting is nearing completion but the wood will evolve and alumni can play a key role in shaping its future. It’s not too late to sponsor a tree. Contact Simon Buttenshaw on: +44 (0)115 9513998 or email simon.buttenshaw@nottingham.ac.uk.
