International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

May 18th, 2015

This weekend, the University celebrates IDAHOBIT 2015 – International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.

The Trent Building rainbow flag will be raised from Friday 15 to Monday 18 May in celebration, as part of the Nottinghamshire Rainbow Flags for IDAHOBIT scheme. The University’s LGBTQ Staff Network will also hold a stall on Friday in the Portland Building, with information on IDAHOBIT and more – come and say hello.

IDAHOBIT events in Nottingham city centre will mark the day itself on Sunday 17 May. At 10am, a rainbow flag will be raised at Nottingham Castle. This will be followed at 12.30pm with a streaming event, where groups will make their way from the Castle to the Brian Clough statue adjacent to Old Market Square. Rainbow flags will be handed out, and University of Nottingham staff and students are invited to meet at the Castle to walk together, departing at 12.30pm.

IDAHOBIT speeches will be made at the statue at 1pm, followed by screening of Milk at Broadway Cinema and/or a BBQ at New Foresters – both optional, all welcome.
