Horticultural workshop with Matt Gyles: pruning

March 13th, 2020

Learn how to prune and why we undertake this task with a hands-on guide in a practical workshop.

You’ll be led around University Park in a variety of locations where interactive demonstrations will take place for everyone to participate in. You’ll be given a step-by-step guide on how to get the most out of your plants. Safety gloves will be required for this activity and a good sharp pair of secateurs.

The fee is £4 per person, and booking is required. To book, please email the Friends of University Park.

Hi Matt,
I appreciate that this will not be able to go ahead at the moment but is there any chance of a a short video upload explaining the basics? It would be very much appreciated if you could do something and I suspect lots of people in our University community would value your advice. Thank you.

Hi Sarah

Thanks for your message.

Unfortunately and under the current circumstances we don’t the capacity to do this, although there are a number of videos on YouTube, which show demonstrations and all kinds of useful information.

The RHS also have an official guide to pruning.

If you need any further information, you can contact our Grounds manager, Lee Reed.
Thanks, I hope that helps.
