June 2018 open days: further call for volunteers

June 11th, 2018

Our next undergraduate open days will take place on Friday 29 June and Saturday 30 June, across all three UK campuses. Are you able to help out?

Thanks to everyone who has been able to volunteer so far to help out at the forthcoming open days. Our staff and student ambassadors are central to the success of the days and from feedback we know that they make a positive difference to our visitors’ experiences.

This year, we need to increase the number of staff ambassadors on site to ensure we have sufficient people to guide and direct our visitors, so we are still looking for more volunteers.

Are you able to help out? Duties will include:

  • staffing information points
  • overseeing venues with talks
  • being a first point of contact and liaising with the Events team on any issues or problems during the day
  • assisting visitors at Nottingham train station/tram stop
  • supervising student volunteers
  • directing visitors/helping with accessibility issues
  • The standard hours of work for open days are between 8am – 4pm with variations and morning/afternoon session for those who are part-time.

Please seek your line manager’s permission before signing up and complete the online form by Friday 15 June.

When completing the form, please keep a note of which briefing you sign up to attend, as there are versions for those who have worked an open day before and those who have not.

You will also be asked to attend a staff training session (45 minutes max) and a final briefing the week prior to the Open Day (1 hour max). These are obligatory for all staff, whether you have helped on open days before or not, as arrangements change from year to year. Details regarding the final briefing will be confirmed closer to the date.

If you have any queries relating to the events, please contact the student recruitment events team.
