Update of the University privacy notice regarding personal data

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect on 25 May 2018, replacing the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998. The University has reviewed and updated its privacy notices regarding the personal data it collects and processes to comply with the new regulations.

The privacy notice for staff, job applicants and others working at the University contains information relating to how the University processes personal data, including:

  • A description of the personal data that is collected
  • The purposes for processing the data
  • The legal basis on which the processing takes place
  • Who the personal data is shared with
  • How personal data is handled where it is necessary to transfer it outside of the EU and  details of the safeguards that are in place to protect the security of the data
  • How long the personal data will be kept for
  • Details about your rights in relation to the processing of your personal data
