Are you working for greater equality? People and Culture wants to hear from you…

October 13th, 2017

If you are working in a way that supports greater equality at the University, the People and Culture team would like to hear from you.

This is because the University of Nottingham will be applying for a renewal of our institutional Athena SWAN Silver Award in November — and we want to ensure that all of the fantastic work happening across the university is recognised in the application where possible.

So if you have held an event, implemented a new initiative, or found a new way of working that supports people of all genders in the workplace, please do get in touch.

Email us at peopleandculture@nottingham.ac.uk.

Not sure if this counts toward the Athena SWAN Silver award, but I am teaching a brand new module in the dept. of Theology and Religious Studies this semester called “Women and Gender in the New Testament.” Students approach these ancient texts (but also the use of the texts in modern communities) through a feminist lens, and with a view to gender analysis. This type of class will hopefully make a difference in the outlook of young people who may go into careers of leadership in faith communities, and will provide them with tools for combatting restrictive gender roles!

Good luck preparing for the renewal!
All best,
Dr Sara Parks
