Updated: The August downtime is now over and the full functionality of Moodle and Rogo has been restored. Thank you for your patience during this essential work.
There will be a period of downtime for both Moodle and Rogo between Tuesday 1 August and Thursday 3 August. During this time there will be read-only revision versions of the systems. Read the message from Professor Sarah O’Hara for more information.
Dear colleagues,
As you will be aware, the implementation of Campus Solutions will mean a change to all of our module codes. We are now ready to make these changes to the codes for modules running on the Ningbo, China campus in 2017-18.
Rest assured that it is only the module code in the title of the module that will be changing. Module content will not be affected, and links to reading lists and lecture captures will be automatically updated.
We will be updating the system from 6pm UK time on Tuesday 1 August to 6pm UK time on Thursday 3 August (1am Wednesday 2 August to 1am Friday 4 August in China and Malaysia). Both Moodle and Rogo will be unavailable during this time across all campuses (China, Malaysia and UK) but revision-only versions of the systems will be available to support students who are undergoing exams in the resit period later in August.
Please note that this work requires a short period of complete downtime for Moodle and Rogo between 6pm and 8pm UK time (1am and 3am CN/MY) on 1 August while we turn the read-only revision versions on. Then, on 3 August, a brief period of downtime before we return to the full versions.
This work is being carefully planned to minimise disruption to our normal business. As you know, these changes are necessary to change the source of authority from Saturn to Campus Solutions.
Please do not hesitate to contact learning-technologies@nottingham.ac.uk if you have any questions about the downtime for Moodle and Rogo. Both staff and students will receive reminders about this over the coming weeks. We would greatly appreciate your support in disseminating this information.
Best wishes,
Professor Sarah O’Hara

Hello. I don’t understand what you mean by “read-only”. I have to resit for an exam in the last week of August. Will updating moodle affect my accessibility to the module for which I have to resit?
Thank you.

Hi, thanks for your query.
You will still be able to access all your modules and materials, even during the downtime period.
‘Read-only’ means that any changes you make during the downtime will not be saved. This means that whilst you can make changes, you won’t be able to see the changes when the live system is returned on the evening of Thursday 3 August. For example, if you have a discussion in a forum on Wednesday 2 August, that discussion thread will not be visible after 6pm Thursday 3 August.
All of the functionality will be restored to you after 6pm 3 August (UK time). Any changes you make after then will be saved as normal.
Best wishes – Becky

Hello Lara,
Unfortunately, you will not be able to submit assignments during the downtime.
I’ve passed your details onto the Learning Technologies team. One of the team has sent you an email today to discuss your particular circumstances.
Where the team have found a deadline scheduled for the downtime, they have been in contact with Tutors to rearrange the dates. However, we appreciate there may be some students for whom the deadline may not have been picked up or personal circumstances mean they need to submit assignments earlier.
Any students in a similar situation should email learning-technologies@nottingham.ac.uk as soon as possible.
Thanks
Jess
